Alongside them the line runs to side-by-sides with and without dispensers, French-door and bottom-freezer columns, fully integrated units behind custom panels, and an entire undercounter family — refrigerators, refrigerated drawers and beverage centers. ### What actually goes wrong - **One compartment warm, the other cold.** Defrost or airflow far more often than the compressor. Call early. - **Ice building on the back wall.** The defrost cycle, or a door not sealing in a humid room. - **Water at the dispenser slowing or stopping.** Filter, then the valve, then the line. - **Water under the drawers.** A blocked drain, and in this climate a very common one. - **A unit running constantly.** Door seals, condenser dust, or a damper that has stopped closing — all of them cheaper than what people fear. - **Undercounter units showing an E-code.** These are the units in the line that publish codes, and they are decoded on this site. ### Humidity, and what it costs here A door seal that would be adequate in a dry climate loses a South Florida kitchen a great deal of energy and puts ice where it does not belong. Seals and drains are the two things worth looking at on any unit here that is more than a few years old. ### What to have ready Which compartment is wrong, whether the unit is built in or integrated behind panels, and the model number from inside the door or behind the grille. A blocked evaporator, a failed defrost heater or a damper that has stopped moving all read exactly like this. It is worth calling before food is lost rather than after. Both exist, and it matters. The 5 Series built-ins use a single variable-speed DC compressor with the maker’s Pro Chill management, and other units in the line split the work. Knowing which is in your kitchen changes what “the freezer is warm and the fridge is cold” means, and the model number tells us in one step. That is a fully integrated unit and the plate is inside — open the door and look along the upper left side wall, or behind the top grille. Integrated installations sit flush in a 24-inch cabinet opening, and getting one out is a joinery job as much as an appliance one, which is exactly why we would rather know before we arrive. The unit tells you twice. When the order light comes on it is nearly time; when the replace light comes on, change it. A filter left far past that is behind a surprising share of “the water has slowed down” calls, and it is a part you fit yourself in a minute. Yes.
