## What we repair on a Viking, and what each job involves.

This make puts a sealed refrigeration system and an open gas burner in the same kitchen, so the list below covers two trades rather than one. Every page says what the work actually is, what it starts at, and what is worth checking before paying anybody. The diagnostic is credited toward the repair, and no exact price is given before an appliance has been looked at.

28 — jobs, each with its own page

11 — appliance types we repair

from $95 — diagnostic, credited to the repair

84 — conditions decoded on this site

## Every job we do, with what it starts at

A job specific to one appliance has its own page with that appliance attached. There is no grid of eleven appliances times twenty-eight jobs, because most of those combinations are not work anybody does.

## The cold half and the hot half are not the same job.

Most of the makes we work on do one or the other. This one does both, and it does them in the same room: a pair of refrigeration columns down one wall and a professional range with an open burner down the other. A sealed system is measured in pressures and currents; an open burner is diagnosed by taking it apart in your hand. Different tools, different parts, different figures.

Which is why the appliance is named when the visit is booked rather than after. It decides what comes on the van, and it is the difference between one appointment and two.

## The work sets the price, not the badge on the front.

A hood motor is a hood motor whatever name is on the appliance, and the ventilation pages here are priced accordingly. So is a dishwasher drain, which is usually in the plumbing rather than in the machine. What genuinely costs more on this equipment is a sealed refrigeration system inside a paneled column, an induction generator that is a power supply in its own right, and a professional chassis somebody has to work around in place.

Where a job is cheap on this equipment — a burner cap seated wrong, a pan that is not induction cookware, a drain hose without its high loop, a cooling fan doing exactly what it should — the page says so, and says it before you have paid for a visit to hear it.

## Tell us the model and what the appliance is showing.

Those two things are usually enough for us to say which job it is, what it involves and what it should cost — before anyone comes out. On this make “what it is showing” can be four different things: a token on a display, a message in words, a count of flashes on two lights, or a knob ring gone red. All four are on this site, and all four disappear the moment the power is cut.

## Book the visit, or ask first.

The diagnostic starts at $95 and comes off the bill when you go ahead with the work.
