- An oven directly underneath, running long
- A blocked or shallow cutout that traps heat under the glass
- Not the same entry as FA/FC, which is a key error — the maker's table prints one in capitals and this one with a lower-case c, and the two mean nothing alike

- Let the top cool completely with nothing on it before switching it back on
- Check nothing has been stored in the cabinet directly under the cutout

Heat conditions on this equipment are usually about the cabinet rather than the appliance. Induction and electric tops need the clearance the installation instructions ask for, and a Miami kitchen with a hot oven underneath and no air moving through the cutout will produce this in August and never in January.
