Viking griddle & grill plate repair
The griddle in the middle of a wide range or rangetop — the surface that gets used least and reported most, because a griddle that has not been asked to heat since the holidays is the one that will not.

How this visit actually goes
The same order every time, so nothing is opened and nothing is charged before you have seen the figure and said yes.

01
Heat the whole surface and look at it
A griddle that is hot in the middle and cold at one end is a different repair from one that is cold everywhere, and it shows in two minutes.
-
02
Measure at the plate, not at the dial
These are thermostatically controlled surfaces and the sensing sits under the plate. A number at the surface is the only honest test.
-
03
Check ignition or the element, depending
A gas griddle has its own burner and its own ignition; an electric one has an element and a control. They fail in different ways and both are contained repairs.
-
04
Level the plate
A griddle that runs downhill pools fat at one end. It is a five-minute correction that changes how the appliance cooks.

Open burner · Sealed burner · Dual fuel · Electric · Induction · 24" to 66" Viking range repair in Miami
The appliance this brand is named for, and the one place it does something nobody else does: an open burner that comes apart in your hands. Gas, dual fuel, all-electric and induction are all sold under the same badge, and a range that will not light and a range that will not heat are two completely different visits.
- A burner that sparks and never catches
- An oven that will not reach or hold temperature
- A door still locked hours after a self-clean
-
Gas · Electric · Induction · Professional rangetop · 24" to 48" Viking cooktop repair in Miami
Two appliances and one word. A rangetop is a range's burner deck with cabinetry under it instead of an oven; a cooktop is the lighter equipment that drops into a worktop. Gas, electric and induction behind them fail in three unrelated ways, and only one of the three is really about heat.
- A zone that shuts itself down mid-cook
- The surface refusing to see a pan
- Controls locked, or answering a wet cloth

About Viking griddle & grill plate repair
The surface nobody uses until they need it
A griddle on a 48-inch range gets used for a holiday breakfast and then sits. That is why so many of these calls arrive in the same fortnight of the year, and why blocked ports and seized ignition are the usual findings rather than anything dramatic.
What actually goes wrong
- The griddle burner not carrying across its length.
- Ignition on the griddle burner specifically, which is separate from the cooking burners.
- The thermostat or sensing under the plate.
- A plate that has warped, which changes how everything on it cooks.
What decides the figure
Whether it is the burner and its ignition, the sensing, or the plate itself. The first two are the common ones and they are at the low end of this row.

Questions about viking griddle & grill plate repair
It heats but only in the middle.
On a gas griddle that usually means the burner is not carrying across its full length — ports or a partial blockage. On an electric one it is more often the element. Either way it is the plate rather than the range, which keeps the job contained.
Mine has not been used in a year.
That is the most common history on this call. Idle burners and idle elements are where corrosion and blocked ports show up first, and a griddle used twice a year is the least-used surface in the kitchen.
Can the plate be replaced on its own?
Usually yes. A warped or badly pitted plate is a part, and it does not mean the range is finished — which is worth saying, because it is what people assume.
