Viking dishwasher lights flashing
A Viking dishwasher has no error code. Two lights on the front flash a count each, and the pair of counts is the entire diagnostic vocabulary of the appliance.

Five ordinary causes
What this usually turns out to be
Cheapest and commonest first, which is also the order we check them in. They sit hundreds of dollars apart, and only the unit settles which one is yours.
-
One flash then five — a drain error
The most common pair on this machine, and the one most often resolved in the plumbing rather than in the appliance.

Two then two — a fill timeout
The machine did not get the water it expected in the time it allows. Valve, line and pressure, in that order.

Both lights flashing continuously — a pan flood
Not a count. Water in the base of the machine, and a reason to shut the supply off rather than to reset it.

Three-something and four-something — motor and sensing
The motor control, the drain pump, the temperature sensor and under-voltage all have their own pairs.

An X under the cycle lights
On machines built before 26 May 2010 there are no counts at all — a pattern of X marks under a row of lights is the code. The date on the serial tag decides which table applies.

In five minutes
Before you call anybody
None of it needs tools, and all of it makes the visit shorter.
-
01
Count both lights, in order
Pots/Pans first, then Normal Wash. The order is part of the message.
-
02
Film it if counting is hard
A ten-second video is easier than counting under pressure and it can be replayed.
-
03
Check the date code on the serial tag
It decides which of the two tables applies, and they are not compatible.
-
04
Reset with START held four seconds
After counting. That is the manufacturer's own reset.
How it shows up
What people describe when they call
Two shortcuts
Narrow it down before anybody arrives
A description of the behaviour leaves a few possible causes. A code names the subsystem, and the model number says which parts to bring. Either one shortens the visit; both together usually settle it.

About Viking dishwasher lights flashing
Count before you switch it off
Count the flashes on Pots/Pans, then the flashes on Normal Wash, and write both numbers down. One then five is a drain problem; two then two is a fill problem. The count disappears the moment the machine is reset and nobody can recover it afterwards.
The appliance with no display
Every other appliance in this catalog reports something a person can write down. The dishwashers do not. Two lights on the front flash a count each, and the pair is the message — seventeen documented conditions on the current machines, read entirely from two lamps.
Why counting first matters so much
Because the count is the only evidence the appliance produces and it is destroyed by the reset. A technician arriving after the machine has been reset has to reproduce the condition before diagnosing it, and some of these take a full cycle to reappear.

Questions about viking dishwasher lights flashing
What is the error code?
There is not one, and that is the honest answer rather than a dodge. This maker publishes no numbered code for any of its dishwashers. Any site offering "Viking dishwasher error code 15" invented the number, and several do.
Both lights are flashing together and I cannot count them.
Then it is not a count. Both lights flashing continuously means a pan flood — water in the base of the machine. Shut the water off at the valve under the sink and do not run it again until the leak has been found.
It stopped flashing on its own.
A reset clears it whether or not the condition is resolved. If you did not reset it and it cleared, note what the machine was doing — an intermittent condition is worth mentioning, and it is the sort of thing that returns.
